Rd 1 HEAT by HEAT

SATURDAY MARCH 11th 2017

Round 1 Heat 1
BALLYMAC FIDORA
Smart career start despite elimination from TRL Juvenile, no shock if improve, T1 ideal?
                                                                                                                                                 HOSPITAL HERBERTSTOWN
AT SEA
Progressive sort ran-up hot ECY novice stake & coped well in AA0 latest, must respect.
                                                                                                                                          KILDIMO PALLASKENRY
KILLINAN ROSIE
Powerful bitch has found her best form at LMK which ideally suits strong runner, player! KNOCKAINEY
BENTEKES BOCKO
Flew around LMK in saucy career start. Traffic both starts since but big talent, will figure. AHANE
ALLEN TANK
Bumped in sole race start but trial form, especially latest 350 is saucy form if reproduce. CROOM
DROOPYS CABAYE
Ran game 2nd in TRL Juvenile latest & can trap faster. Draw suits & power off 2nd bend.
                                                                                                                                          BALLYAGRAN CAMOIGE

GUIDE: We learnt last week that we must respect the Tralee Juvenile form with four winners at Limerick on Saturday having previously been eliminated from that hot unraced event so Droopys Cabaye, although currently graded A3, can be assumed to be far ahead of that mark having run-up the event. However, it’s a hot heat and Pat Buckley will be disappointed to see three of his entries housed in the opener but a chance is taken that he can draw first blood with Bentekes Bocko who was quite stunning in his career start at Limerick and appears to have been readied specially for the Kirby. Caution should be taken with the unexposed runners here as with all upcoming heats and Ballymac Fidora is another Juvenile graduate who deserves respect; as does the sizzling trial form of Allen Tank and the progressive At Sea but discount the bitch Killinan Rosie at your peril and should she break well, she would take some containing.

                        ROUND 1 HEAT 2

RACKETHALL JESS
Has taken to LMK in classy career start. Venue suits 525 stayer, sneak a run for late bid.
                                                                                                                                                                         GALBALLY
WHOOPS JACK
Hot ECY unraced win before Puppy Derby semi. Capable of flying clocks, real contender. KNOCKANE
KERRYDALE BERTIE
Narrowly denied in A4 final latest but improving each run. Grade hike but may cope well. BRUREE
CLONBRIEN HERO
Ran well in TRL Juvenile before slick show here last week. Big player if trap well again. MURROE BOHER
KELLSBORO TOMMY
Improving rapidly & latest was impressive CML win. This a step up but no shock if figure. BALLYSTEEN
MERCIFUL JOEY
Keeps improving in progressive career start & ideally drawn if repeat good start on rise. BALLYBROWN

GUIDE: One of three Holland runners to impress at Limerick last Saturday, Clonbrien Hero posted a smart victory on a slow track and a repeat of that performance would be difficult to contain here, even if kennel companion and 550 yard winner from last week Rackethall Jess did manage to turn close at the bend but Whoops Jack has had a classy puppy career and with experience under his belt is an outright Kirby contender in 2017. He should grab a rails lead form Jess now and prove extemely difficult to repel thereafter.

                          ROUND 1 HEAT 3

BORSALINO
Held here latest but tight for room then & better draw now gives claim after smart debut.
                                                                                                                                             CASTLETOWN BALLYAGRAN
HAWKS BAY
Held latest but A2 winner has smart strike rate. This a step up but early has claim if lead. OOLA
JAYTEE WARRIOR
Progressive sort impressed in 350 win here latest & may step up on best 525 run if trap. FR CASEYS
IVY HILL BLITZ
Improved from debut in slick A4 win latest & backed it up with smart trial, looks a player! BANOGUE
SLOUANE WONDER
Stealthy improver for dual Kirby winning trainer. Appears to start & stay, must respect!! KNOCKAINEY LADIES FOOTBALL
BALLYBOUGH DAD
KKY trial stake winner continues to improve. Draw may suit well & experience is a plus. EFFIN

GUIDE: Quite an open heat at first glance and in form terms we probably needed to see a trial from Ballybough Dad to give us a more valuable insight as to his chances but he has progressed to a high level of form at Kilkenny and if taking to Limerick on debut, would take plenty of beating. Of course we have the complication of a Matthews runner here with Slouane Wonder and that is said on the back of his two winning Kirby campaigns which means that any runner from the Newry kennel must be given the utmost respect. However, Ivy Hill Blitz was superb when last seen and although that was a lowly A4 event, he returned a smart trial run last week on a slow circuit and is given the tentative vote for a kennel that has a habit of going deep in Limerick classics.

                          ROUND 1 HEAT 4

TIMBER FENCE
Solid again last time & improving sort is 3 from 4 in red so expect bold bid if defend rail.
                                                                                                                                                        ATHEA
COMETWOPASS
Improved from debut in smart A3 win latest. Takes step up but likely has more to offer!                                                                                                                                                                                   GERALD GRIFFINS
BALLYHALE BLAZE
Held in CRK trial stake latest but progressive form prior. Strong runner if turn close up.
                                                                                                                                        NA PIARSAIGH
ELUSIVE HEIGHTS
Well related sort was denied clear run on debut last week but can’t dismiss, improver?
                                                                                                                                                MUNGRET
KYLETAUN ANGEL
Struggled the last few since quality brace to start career. Must find a break in this draw.
                                                                                                                                             ST SENANS
SPRINGWELL JOSIE
Sharp Open sprinter claimed MGR trial stake latest & draw may be ok if produce a start.
                                                                                                                                                   BRUFF

GUIDE: A wide open looking heat where relative experience meets some unexposed types, particularly in the form of Elusive Heights who still be anything! The experience of Springwell Josie could ultimately prove a deciding factor and having held a middle seed in the past, could have an ideal draw against others who will  be less happy. However a chance is taken on Peter Cronin's Cometwopass who may find the necessary improvement for his recent trial at Limerick.

                          ROUND 1 HEAT 5

TOOCOOLFORSCHOOL
Held latest but better judged on smart debut win & likely to progress if clear run, claims.
                                                                                                                        DROMCOLLOGHER BROADFORD
ALLEN JUNIOR Denied clear run latest but impressed on debut in TRL Juvenile & likely to progress now.                                                                                                       CAMOGUE ROVERS
FRANKIES LADY Great strike rate & in career best form when last seen. Big claims if sharp for return now.                                                                                                                                         GLIN
LUGHILL ROBBIE Back to form the last twice & last week’s LMK debut was impressive. Big player if trap.                                                                                 PALLASGREEN LADIES FOOTBALL
BURNT BEANS Left a big impression before withdrawal from CML unraced & looks a real Kirby prospect.                                                                                                                                       GLENROE
TINAS ROSIE Ultra game sort can start & stay at trip. DLK trial stake winner is well drawn for bold bid.                                                                                                                                             ST PATRICKS

GUIDE: This could probably be labelled a tricky betting heat with some unexposed but talented types. Either of the inside duo could pop up with a big run while the impressive Frankies Lady has an absence to overcome and will need to significantly improve on her comeback trial. Tinas Rosie is as tough as you like and could easily spring a minor surprise if leading around form the outside but Lughill Robbie and Burnt Beans may hold sway as the former was very impressive on a slow circuit here last week and Burnt Beans left the Clonmel Unraced Stake as a real talking dog back in January. The latter just earns the nod, on suspicion more than bare fact.

                         ROUND 1 HEAT 6

THOR TAGG
Rising form A7 but he was impressive! Starts must improve but has shown ample pace!
                                                                                                                                      KILMALLOCK CAMOIGE
SHEWHODARESWINS Smart sort was held latest but reached Open for sprint & stays 525 so bold bid if trap.                                                                                                           PATRICKSWELL
TIBET Held latest but rattled off a 5-timer to start career. Must return to best break but chance.                                                                                                                                                            FEDAMORE
MALICO CHAMP Sole win was debut but solid efforts behind smart types of late & merits plenty respect.                                                                                                                STALKER WALLACE
JAYTEE PRESIDENT Has improved, taking well to LMK the last few. No disgrace in defeat latest, big player!                                                                                                                     GALTEE GAELS
VANCOUVER SHEA Powerful sort, capable of saucy clocks. Trials say primed & if trapping is a Kirby player!                                                                                                                                ADARE

GUIDE: A couple making a first step up to Open class here and with the presence of  Vancouver Shea they will all have to be sharp. The Fraser Black powerhouse has been both green and brilliant in his short career so far but recent trials suggest he is primed for a major Kirby assault and in punting terms, I wouldn't like to be taking him on without very generous prices. Jaytee President is an obvious starting point if you must oppose the likely favourite and the Hennessy charge could make a bold bid if leading on the outer to ensure clear passage that was denied to him last time. Malico Champ too is no also ran having contested top company with solid results while Thor Tagg would be of interest if the penny dropped at traps.

 ROUND 1 HEAT 7
COOLAVANNY PET
Hugely talented bitch plies her trade a top level. Strong at trip & big player if defend rail.
                                                                                                                                     MURROE BOHER CAMOIGE
DROOPYS DRESDEN Smart UK form to start career & well related sort is likely to feature highly on Irish debut.                                                                                                      KILTEELY DROMKEEN
SIDARIAN VICTOR From classy litter & entitled to talent. Tough ask on debut but in right kennel for the job!                                                                                                                         PALLASGREEN
HIGHVIEW PRODUCT Found traffic the last twice & sluggish starts need improving but retains scope for more.                                                                                                                   CLAUGHAUN
RATHNASARE CHAMP Held with plenty of bumps on LMK debut latest but progressive prior. Can figure if trap.                                                     FEOHANAGH CASTLEMAHON LADIES FOOTBALL
JAYTEE BARRACUDA Impressed despite elimination in TRL Juvenile. Confirmed promise latest, outright claim!                                                                                                             TEMPLEGLANTINE

GUIDE: An interesting heat where the superb Coolavanny Pet would be the choice if you could be adamant that she would break well enough to defend the rails and turn with or close to the lead. She hasn't done that of late and it opens the door now for a hugely promising Jaytee Barracuda who went on every short-list for this event when impressing in the Tralee Juvenile. He built on that promise in a smart Limerick debut here last week when leaving the impression that he had yet more to offer and earns the vote with his wide seed now applied which can ensure clear passage. Of course, hailing from the prolific Graham Holland kennel which had a treble with Kirby runners at Limerick last week, we must listen up for rumours as to the abilities of Sidarian Victor and being a half-brother to last year's winner Droopys Roddick, a keen eye should also be cast over Droopys Dresden.

 ROUND 1 HEAT 8
LOSKERAN VARDY
Started fav for TRL Juvenile final when fastest in the event. Big talent & T1 may be ideal.
.                                                                                                                                                            MONALEEN
BRANDYANDBAILEYS Starting to improve & latest A3 wins will have boosted confidence. Must lead T1 for win.                                                                                                               BLACKROCK
CROSSFIELD JOCK Impressed in CML novice to start career & latest 350 trial augurs well for return, respect.                                                                                                  ABBEYSARSFIELDS
SALEEN ANNA Smart debut winner at TRL takes a big step up but retains scope to improve, has claims!                                                                                                                        KNOCKADERRY
DROOPYS POGBA Behind T1 in TRL final latest but made smart career start there. Early pacer must lead up.                                                                                                            GARRYSPILLANE
DROOPYS GIROUD Withdrawn from TRL semi having impressed in heats, comrade to T5 buts stays stronger.                                                                                                             TOURNAFULLA

GUIDE: This heat is almost like Tralee on tour as there is so much Juvenile Classic form to draw from and the popular choice will be Loskeran Vardy who possibly has his ideal draw now, something he didn't get when favourite for the Tralee decider last time out. However, he showed enough in that stake to make himself a fancy for many in the Kirby and he will be expected to open his campaign with a win, despite not having been around Limerick. He holds Droopys Pogba on overall Tralee form but his comrade Droopys Giroud is a different and more attractive prospect in terms of the demands placed on a Kirby contender. Half brothers to Droopys Nidge, Giroud seems more in keeping with the strong style that you would expect this litter to have. He did little wrong at Tralee and can certainly be given a real chance here if he has sharpened up his breaking since withdrawn from the second round of the Juvenile. As with all the heats, although not mentioned in forthright manner, it wouldn't be a seismic shock if one of the others was to show themselves better than expected.

 ROUND 1 HEAT 9
KNOCKFINISK GLEN
Progressive sort in career best form of late. Strong at trip, trio claims if defend rail early.
.                                                                                                                                    BALLYBRICKEN BOHERMORE
CHAWKE IT DOWN Solid 2nd to good benchmark on Open debut latest & entitled to benefit for LMK debut.                                                                                                                            BALLYLANDERS
ALLEN LYNX Could hardly have been more impressive in A1 SPK final latest & LMK can suit stayer.                                                                                                                  GRANAGH BALLINGARRY
BALLYMAC LAUGHIL Found traffic in both outings so far & remains unexposed but no shock if stepping up!                                                                                                                                               DOON
NATIVE CHIMES Big outright fancy ran-up Leger at tender age & claimed trial stake here, obvious player!                                                                                                                                                  KILLEEDY
DROOPYS ALMOND Possesses huge pace & entitled to have matured since hot SPK Dec form, leading hope.                                                                                                           BROADFORD HANDBALL

GUIDE: Excepting an improved break from the respected Allen Lynx, this heat should centre on the outside traps where two big outright fancies begin their campaigns. When running-up the Leger as little more than a baby here in November, Native Chimes showed himself to be a superbly talented greyhound who despite showing signs of greenness throughout that All Age event, displayed raw pace that just screamed Kirby challenger. He claimed the trial stake here last time out and if matured enough now to have developed a consistency, particularly at traps, is one that you simply must have on your side in 2017. He faces a stiff examination here however from Droopys Almond who is a strong runner capable of very fast clocks. He has shown eye-catching pace against the very best pups in Ireland in pre-Christmas events and may only have improved in the interim. For this heat though, Native Chimes is selected to gain first run on the Buckley charge and go on to score thereafter.

 ROUND 1 HEAT 10
DRIVE ON TIPP
Comerford 3rd developed consistency at SPK in slick times, outright fancy ideally drawn.
                                                                                                                                                                       CRECORA
ITS ROCKIN JIM Solid enough LMK debut last week & progressive prior. Retains scope to progress more.                                                                                                                          ASKEATON
NITRO NOTORIOUS Found bumps in Juvenile semi latest but impressed greatly there, early pacer will figure.                                                                                                                      RATHKEALE
MAGICAL VINNY Found plenty of traffic on debut at TRL but no shock if progress markedly now, respect.                                                                                                                               MOUNTCOLLINS
PRICELESS RUM Held on LMK debut latest & sole win was A6 but no shock if well related sort found more.                                                                                                                              KILMALLOCK
BRINKLEYS BLAZE Strong runner has taken well to LMK the last few & latest defeat was no disgrace, player!                                                                                                              OLD CHRISTIANS

GUIDE: Likely to start favourite here is Drive On Tipp and he is difficult to oppose in what is an ideal draw for the Holland runner who has some exceptional form to back up his Kirby credentials. He is taken to begin his campaign with a win but there are viable alternatives with his early paced kennel companion a likely challenger for the early lead having impressed in the Tralee Juvenile and the strong running Brinkleys Blaze should not be ruled out in an ideal draw where he could benefit if there is any crowding on the inner.

 ROUND 1 HEAT 11
HOVEX MICK
On a rapid rise & his LMK debut last time could not have impressed more, leading fancy.
                                                                                                                                                                        CAPPAGH
GO ON RONNIE Held latest but previous sprint trial suggests plenty more in the tank, lively outsider?!                                                                                                                       SOUTH LIBERTIES
BURGESS DUBH Held the last twice but hugely talented & reached Leger semi, big player if well away.                                                                                                          FEOHANAGH CASTLEMAHON
BLACK FARREN Progressive type & latest LMK debut was a cracking effort. Scope to improve, respect.                                                                                                                                           MONAGEA
CROSSFIELD KATE Impressive unraced stake winner at TRL & latest 350 trial here merits big respect, claim.                                                                                                                             CAHERLINE
HAZEL MIXTURE Claimed Juvenile heat on debut before strong staying trial stake win there, will threaten.                                                                                                                         DROMIN ATHLACCA

GUIDE: A very interesting heat where many can hold claims but Hovex Mick is the obvious starting point after a stunning display on his LMK debut last time out. Trap 1 is likely to prove ideal and he is selected for victory despite there being plenty of viable opposition. Burgess Dubh must be respected even if he does need to step up on recent efforts. He's not trapping well at present but having reached the semi-finals of the Leger as a pup, his talent should not be in question. Crossfield Kate made a pleasing start to her career at Tralee and her recent blistering trial over 350 yards leaves open the possibility that she could lead them all a merry dance if quick from traps while we may also be about to see the strong running Hazel Mixture show his Kirby credentials on a track that is likely to suit greatly. An intriguing heat!

 ROUND 1 HEAT 12
CU UI NEILL
Progressive & latest was another solid placed run. Strong stayer has claim if sneak run.
                                                                                                                                                           NEWCASTLE WEST
LYBES DESTINY Smart TRL A5 stake winner takes a big step up now but retains plenty of scope, outsider.                                                                                                                   BALLINACURRA GAELS
TULLIG CRUISE Solid career start with battling places. Takes a jump in class here but likely to improve.                                                                                                                                        CAPPAMORE
JAYTEE SAMURAI Plenty of traffic in latest outings but Comerford winner can get back on track if break.                                                                                                                               FEENAGH KILMEEDY
HIGHER LEVEL Steadily improved to land hot CML unraced event, venue can suit strong runner, player!                                                                                                                                  CROAGH KILFINNY
SOCIETY ST RIDLE Progressive sort, back on song in game LGD trial stake win & expect late bid if close up.                                                                                                                                       ST. KIERANS

GUIDE: This heat is likely to rest between the Comerford Cakes Puppy winner Jaytee Samurai and the Red Mills Unraced Stake winner Higher Level. The former has not exactly rubber-stamped his SPK success in recent outings at Limerick but has more plausible claims for a clear run and possible lead in this heat which can bring a bold bid. His clear run, should he find it, can ensure the same for the strong running Higher Level on his outer and these two may be set for a buckle on the back-straight if so with marginal preference for Jaytee Samurai to get back on the winning trail.
