Q/Finals Heat by Heat

 QUARTER-FINAL 1
CLONBRIEN HERO Murroe Boher                                           Outright 20/1
First time in T1 is likely to be ideal! Can start, does stay & expect bold bid if defend rails.
NATIVE CHIMES Killeedy                                                                           7/1
Always consistent, was back on form in Rd2, appears to be improving, fly from 2nd bend.
TOOCOOLFORSCHOOL Dromcollogher Broadford                               20/1
Smart early pacer was caught late by T6 latest. Must lead inner duo for win claims now.
MAGICAL VINNY Mountcollins                                                               40/1
Inexperienced but improving. Looks a poor draw but will battle throughout if level away.
IVY HILL BLITZ Banogue                                                                          50/1
Solid strong running efforts in both heats. Needs clear run & turn close now, respected.
VANCOUVER SHEA Adare                                                                        6/1
Outright Fav bidding for hat-trick. Ideally drawn & can go faster than last week, big claim.

GUIDE: A saucy encounter with two big outright fancies clashing. Leger runner-up Native Chimes is suited by the blue jacket and that draw in itself would not be a problem but while he has claims to repel Clonbrien Hero in the early exchanges, the presence of Toocoolforschool on his outer does complicate matters. The latter has slick early pace and could well cut off Chimes at the bend. In that scenario, Vancouver Shea is the percentage call in his rematch with the Dowling early pacer. He reeled him in last week and can likely do so again if anywhere close to his Round 1 form. Of course Native's best break would be great to see from a purist stand point and let's see how they match up down the back but the respected Clonbrien Hero has claims of his own and is capable of leading on the fence; he could change the complexion of the outright market if he did by creating a scramble for places in behind as he would not be coming back to the field too quick on the evidence of his efforts last week. Both Magical Vinny and Ivy Hill Blitz are inexperienced runners who have performed well so far, possess enough pace to threaten, especially late on but not rewarded with pleasing draws, they may need a crack break to upset the more fancied runners.

 QUARTER-FINAL 2
BORSALINO Castletown Ballyagran                                                            16/1
Ran a cracker in defeat last week & back in ideal T1 now. Stays, huge claim if well away.
BENTEKES BOCKO Ahane                                                                            9/1
On Kirby hat-trick after slick early paced wins, drawn to lead on the inner for bold show!
NITRO NOTORIOUS Rathkeale                                                                    14/1
Far from disgraced without clear run latest. More to come if trap, must respect, possible!
ITS ROCKIN JIM Askeaton                                                                            66/1
Has stayed on well in both heats but outsider here unless find better start in tricky draw.
HAZEL MIXTURE Dromin Athlacca                                                            25/1
Strong runner with solid efforts both heats. Needs clear run & must turn closer for win.
JAYTEE BARRACUDA Templeglantine                                                       25/1
Held every chance last week but still a solid effort & can start faster, well drawn, claims!

GUIDE: An very interesting heat with the obvious starting point being Bentekes Bocko. Possessing quality early pace he is trapping well and everything suggests that he can dictate from the off again here. However, rarely are things that straightforward in this game and there are dangers to the certain favourite. The biggest of them being Borsalino now back in Trap 1 from where he claimed his opening round heat. He improved in defeat last week and finished very strongly. If he can keep within a couple of lengths of Bocko to halfway, this will be a buckle! The fly in the ointment is Nitro Notorious and I can't shake the feeling that there is a big run imminent from this fellow. Shorter in the market than Borsalino suggests that he has been backed because I would have expected the Dowling runner to be higher on the list after an eye-catching display last time. It would be no shock if he tracked around on the hinds of Bocko now for an improved showing. Of the remainder, Jaytee is most likely to gain clear passage which brings qualification claims even if underwhelming last week while Jim and Hazel will need better breaks to turn close enough for a party pooper role.

 QUARTER-FINAL 3
SHEWHODARESWINS Patrickswell                                                               66/1
Quality staying win in Rd1 & hugely respected in ideal T1 again. Sneak run for late bid.
COOLAVANNY PET Murroe Boher Camogie                                                 9/1
Smart Rd1 winner was even more impressive in battling 2nd latest. Better draw, big claim!
CHAWKE IT DOWN Ballylanders                                                                   40/1
Very solid placed runs in both heats. Pace all round & claims for trio despite tricky draw.
RATHNASARE CHAMP Feohanagh Castlemahon Ladies Football            25/1
Vicious early pacer, caught late last week but improving. Bold bid, catch me if you can!
LUGHILL ROBBIE Pallasgreen Sarsfields Ladies Football                          14/1
Fastest of all last week. Different draw now but can track T4 to 2nd bend & get first bite?!
FRANKIES LADY Glin                                                                                     16/1
Staying well for places in both heats but must keep closer order now & draw a concern.

GUIDE: A fascinating heat with a mix of slick early pacers and strong stayers. Arguably the most impressive runner of the round last week was Coolavanny Pet despite defeat. She appears to have everything required for a serious Kirby challenge and has been rewarded with a more pleasing draw now. She can outpace strong stayer Shewhodareswins in the early exchanges and secure safe passage which will make her very difficult to repel. However, she will probably have to do it from behind as the two fastest early pacers from last week are on her outside here. Champ is a bullet to the bend and posted a brilliant 300 yard sectional of 16.09 before caught late on a week ago. He is likely to dictate here again as crucially for him, he is on the left of Lughill Robbie. A flyer to the third bend, the latter is expected to be next in line behind Champ and get first crack around the bottom bends. However, Pet should be arriving with a wet sail at this point and being a stouter stayer, is selected to gain the upper hand close home. Of the remainder, Shewhodareswins is most likely to upset that trio from an ideal draw. She barely broke stride when glued to the inside rail at the opening bends last week and a similar clear passage now can set up a late bid for qualification. Chawke It Down's draw is quite complicated here and he would probably need to lead Pet to the bend for qualification while Frankie must keep closer order to halfway if she is to have claims for a semi-final berth.

 QUARTER-FINAL 4
DRIVE ON TIPP Crecora                                                                                    7/1
Smart Rd1 winner ran with great credit despite Rd2 bumps. Nicer draw now, big player!
COMETWOPASS Gerald Griffins                                                                     14/1
Slick early when in full stride. Win claim hinges on leading T1 but hard to reel back if so.
HIGHER LEVEL Croagh Kilfinny                                                                     20/1
Powerful stayer at 525 may have ideal draw to sneak run behind inner duo for late bid.
ALLEN TANK Croom                                                                                         16/1
Inexperienced but talented. Getting too far behind for win claim but expect late trio bid.
SOCIETY ST RIDLE St. Kierans                                                                       66/1
Solid efforts with early pace both heats but held every chance latest & must stay better.
DROOPYS GIROUD Tournafulla                                                                      25/1
Negotiating places with smart middle pace. Must turn close for back-straight challenge.

GUIDE: An early battle on the inside here with Drive On Tipp back in an ideal red jacket but he will face a big challenge on the run to the bend from Cometwopass who without bolting from traps, is displaying quality early pace so far at Limerick. The former is stronger beyond halfway but a chance is taken that Cometwopass can steal the early advantage and last home against the big outright fancy. Expect those two to fill the forecast positions in a clean run race and that leaves a big tussle for the remaining qualifying position. Hugely impressive in victory last week, Higher Level is a strong stayer and is possibly the best drawn runner of all for if all goes to plan on the inner, she will be sneaking her run on the rails behind the big two and such is her finishing power, she would be favourite to claim third. The big question mark in the heat is Allen Tank for he has shown glimpses of impressive raw speed, however his breaking is leaving him with much to do while negotiating his way to the places and the further it goes, the better he will need to come away. Society St Ridle held every chance last time and needs to stay better now but Giroud can make a qualification bid from his ideal draw if turning close enough to utilise his middle pace to best effect.
